Laminate veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Some teeth need a small amount of enamel reduction, which cannot be reversed, so ask whether a minimal-preparation option is realistic in your case. Gum problems, decay or an uneven bite are usually treated first. Ask how the final shade is chosen, how your bite will be checked after bonding and which habits, such as biting hard objects, you should avoid.

What are laminate veneers?
Laminate veneers are very thin porcelain or ceramic shells bonded to the front surface of teeth. They are used mainly to improve the colour, shape or size of visible teeth or to close small gaps, while aiming to keep as much natural tooth structure as possible.
Who may be suitable for laminate veneers?
People with healthy teeth and gums who have discolouration that whitening cannot improve, minor chips, small gaps or slightly irregular teeth may be assessed. Significant crowding may be better treated with orthodontics. Tooth grinding, gum disease or decay should be addressed before veneers are considered.
Laminate veneers: What should international patients expect in Istanbul?
After reviewing your smile photos, the dentist in Istanbul examines your teeth, plans the shape and shade and may create a preview. A thin layer of enamel may be reduced, scans or impressions are taken and temporary veneers may be fitted. The laboratory produces the laminates, which are tried in, adjusted and bonded, followed by a bite check before you travel.
What is recovery like after getting laminate veneers?
Temporary sensitivity to hot and cold can occur after enamel preparation and bonding, and it takes some time to adapt to the feel of the veneers when speaking and eating. Use a soft toothbrush, avoid using your teeth as tools and ask whether a night guard is advisable if you clench or grind.
What results can be expected from laminate veneers?
Laminate veneers can make a smile look more even, but they do not change the gum contour or the bite on their own. Enamel reduction is irreversible, veneers can chip or come loose, and they need good hygiene and check-ups. Agree the planned look in advance and keep realistic expectations about how veneers blend with natural teeth.
