How long does rhinoplasty recovery take?
Early swelling and bruising generally improve gradually. Residual swelling and the appearance of the nose can take longer to settle, particularly after revision surgery. Your surgeon should explain your individual recovery plan.

What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is surgery that changes the shape, size or proportions of the nose. It can address aesthetic concerns such as a dorsal hump, a wide or drooping tip or asymmetry, and it may be combined with procedures that improve breathing, such as septoplasty, when this is medically indicated.
Who may be suitable for rhinoplasty?
Adults whose facial growth is complete, who are in good general health and who have realistic expectations may be assessed. Breathing problems, previous nasal surgery or injury, very thick or thin nasal skin and certain medical conditions affect planning. Revision rhinoplasty is more complex and needs a detailed individual evaluation by the surgeon.

Rhinoplasty: What should international patients expect in Istanbul?
You can share photos of your nose from several angles for an initial review. In Istanbul the surgeon examines your nose, discusses your goals and the planned technique, and arranges pre-operative tests. After surgery a splint or dressing is applied and later removed at a follow-up visit. Ask the surgeon when you are expected to be fit to fly.
What is recovery like after rhinoplasty?
Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes are expected in the first period, and the nose may feel blocked while splints or internal dressings are in place. Avoid blowing your nose, heavy exertion and resting glasses on the nasal bridge until the surgeon advises otherwise. Residual swelling, particularly at the tip, can take a long time to settle fully.
What results can be expected from rhinoplasty?
Swelling settles gradually, so the final shape takes time to become visible, especially at the tip. Rhinoplasty changes the nose within the limits of your anatomy and skin and cannot copy another person’s nose. Risks include asymmetry, changes in breathing and the possibility of revision surgery, which the surgeon should explain before you decide.

When will I see the final result of rhinoplasty?
The final result of rhinoplasty appears gradually, as swelling settles over many months. Most visible swelling and bruising improve in the first weeks, but subtle swelling, especially at the tip and in thicker skin, can take a year or longer to resolve. Judge the result only after the period your surgeon advises, and attend follow-up appointments or send photos when requested.
